I check out Ohdeedoh from time to time. Let me just say that your room is the best they've ever posted! I'm so inspired and ready to do some redecorating. Rock on!
Wonderful! Congrats! Must go and have a look!
i'm coming over from ohdeedoh. i had to tell you how lovely your daughters room is. i would love a room like that myself!the quilt is truly amazing too. could you tell me how you hung the oilcloth wallpaper? i have been looking into starching fabric to my walls but i was worried about stains, you idea seems more family friendly. much thanks!
hi mamamonster, thanks so much for your sweet compliment! and to answer your comment, we attached the oilcloth to the wall with a heavy duty stapler (you can get those at the hardware store). good luck! lynn-anne
I just found your blog from ohdeedoh, and absolutely LOVE this room! The reason I am posting a comment is because I am a teenage girl who loves fashion, design and collecting and my name is Caroline! The weirder thing is that I have a 5 year old Golden Retriever named Fergus...
hi caroline! i am happy you love this room! you sound like someone our caroline would love to hang out with :) thanks for your sweet comment ~ you can see our fergus on flickr -- he's i'm sure much smaller than yours, but he's got a big heart :) lynn-anne
Hi Lynn-Anne et Caro! I was just on ohdeedoh today and thought I recognized your room from flickr.. oui oui! C'est toi! It's you. lol. Congratulations on your ohdeedoh posting! This room is seriously fantabulous. I especially love the paper crane idea.. gives new meaning to good luck & sweet dreams. I also love the hanging chair (oh a great place for my kidster!). We just transitioned our 5yo's room to be less 'baby' so it's great to look around and see new ideas. This room is awesome!psst, love the little cuckoo clock hiding among the polar bears too. :) Thx for sharing your lovely space Caro et Lynn-Anne
thanks! a few more questions. did you staple just the tops of the wall and bottom? what about the middle section? and did you have to paste it at all?sorry for so many questions! i just adore the idea!
thanks, chantale! i would love to see pics of your little one's big(ger) kid room, too :). this is a sweet room; i like that it's quite driven by caroline's likes and what's going on in her eleven year old world -- she's always changing things and making things . . . hmmm. sounds like what i do in the rest of the house. i hope she doesn't mind that she's stuck with this forever!! but thanks! soo appreciate your lovely comments! lynn-anne
hi mamamonster :) np on all the questions, we don't mind a bit! the oilcloth is stapled basically around the perimeter of each length, with fewer staples on the sides where they show more -- at the top and bottom, where the wall meets molding, the staples are as tight to the wall as we could get them, and we did them every 4 inches, approx., there. the staples are more like 6 or 7 inches apart where they are on the edge of a length of a length of fabric but in the middle of the wall. be sure to pull the fabric firmly smooth but not tight; also, it helps to use a fabric with a repeating pattern so the staples get "lost" and the eye just passes over them. just be brave and do it! it might not be absolutely perfect, but it doesn't have to be -- caroline's isn't perfect, but it's lovely nontheless :) good luck! let me know how you do :) lynn-anne
hi, I just re-found you via Ohdeedoh and that makes me so happy, i know I have been on your blog before and liked it very much but forgot to ad you to my favourites.I really like the room of your daughter, we are in the middle of creating a bedroom for my two girls 7&9 and having some trouble deciding what to do, their not little girls any more ( almost teenager) so a new are begins. I find Caroline's room very inspiring!!
thanks, erika! good luck with your girls' room :) let us know how it turns out ! :) lynn-anne
