easter mantle in a wythe blue room

i don't have much patience in my own home for formal, planned mantle arrangements - we're a busy, even slightly chaotic, family of six, not to mention the menagerie of pets, and everyone has a collection, an art piece, something that they want to display, so i generally just put something new up every week or two, and let the thing evolve. a few days ago, i dusted off this sweet sweet vintage illustration (it was done in the 1950s by a local charlotte artist who was creative director for a department store, presumably the original for a newspaper spread advertising children's easter outfits) and popped it up here. i've been amused by what has cropped up underneath it: a pirate cove photo in a hand illustrated frame - my kids made that for mother's day for me years ago:) - a pottery nest by alec, who's now 15; some polaroids, a whimsy bunny out of a red rose tea packet; a save the date for my sister's wedding; some fluffy chicks; and gaily wrapped german chocolate chicks and bunnies, presumably put there so henry and fergus the dogs don't eat them ... ah, the joys of a creative family! and an easy mantle arrangement! wishing you and yours the happiest of holidays! x
